There are some who call me… Tim?

Christmas List, 2009

Hi Everybody!

This is my christmas list for 2009:

- A bow (I will eventually include a link to one, haven’t settled on one yet)

-Borderlands

-A rainproof windbreaker (something to keep me dry, but isn’t really warm. If you use that link, I would prefer “bonsai”. A gift card to REI, Dick’s Sporting Goods, etc., would do just as well)

-Magic Cards ( Preferably boosters of Zendikar , Magic 2010 , and Shards of Alara . Also consider supporting your local gaming store rather than buying online! )

-Warm, wool clothing. Preferably in grey, black, and earth colors. For camping, so tough stuff!

-American Prometheus

-Rechargeable AAAs and a AAA recharger

-A microwavable travel mug for coffee. Preferably with a fashionable design.

-Mini weapons of Mass Destruction

Christmas List!

If you don’t know me personally, move along, move along.

What I want for Christmas:

Fable 2 (for xBox 360, I know what your thinking and Jhon owns one, as do my dorm mates)

Posters for my room (interesting ones.. my room is bare)

Sins of a Solar Empire (for PC)

Battlefront 2 (for PC. Its a starwars game, don’t get confused with battlefield 2!)

Dungeon Keeper 2 (don’t even know if they sell it anymore, really old game)

Startopia (see comment for Dungeon Keeper 2)

World in Conflict (for PC)

Spore Creepy and Cute Parts Pack (Already have Spore, it is le awesome)

Hinterland (RPG for PC)

A good pair of superwarm knitted socks! Especially if they are machine washable and large enough to put over already socked feet. Knitted slipper socks?

Another pair of the bright green avon slippers. Mine are getting worn down and (lets face it) sorta smelly.

Something to keep my head warm while I sleep.

Something to keep my head warm while roaming campus.

A milkshake. Its just a timeless, and delicious, idea.

This is a living Document, so come back looking for updates.

Merry Christmas!

Wait a minute!

“Hey wait, where are my reviews!? You promised reviews!”

Yeah, yeah I did. But I’ve grown bored. Reviews just don’t seem fulfilling for some reason.

The blog may die for a little while while I figure out what else to put up, but be patient!

Content it will eventually have!

Ham and Spam

Sorry I haven’t been posting anything, still between games.

Sadly, given the pressure to get the hell out of my office by Thursday, while still finishing up everything before the deadline, I haven’t had a chance to start or finish any new games.

Also, on another note, I’m getting about 3 spam comments a day, which I delete before you ever see them. That means people think this place is good enough to advertise on. It also means that I hate them.

If you would like advertising space on There are some who call me… Tim?, don’t contact me, cause I’m not interested.

Thanks!

Think outside the Box

Sorry I haven’t posted.

The review isn’t happening this weekend, as you’ve probably noticed, and instead will probably happen in the next coming weeks.

My boss has transferred me to the other coast, and, as such, I have a lot of packing to do before I leave. As a result, thanks to the lack of an IT department at the place my new office is located at, I can’t promise I will be up for business for awhile after I get there.

Sorry for the inconvience.

Sinning Sinners and the Sins they Sin

Got ahold of Sins of a Solar Empire, most of the way through playing it for the first time.

Its a relatively good game, though not quite on the scale of Master of Orion 3. Much like MoO 3, however, it is extremely slow paced. If it wasn’t for the fear of pirate raids every 10 minutes, you could probably queue a ton of things then walk away.

It also lacks the research tree and naval combat tactics that MoO 3 has. Alas, it is pretty decent, and worthy of note. So far not very impressed.

Review after I’ve played a little more.

All Hail the Lord of Delays!

Its been pushed back.

I don’t know till when, but I have some basic information out about the game to (hopefully) help you decide whether or not you should pick it up. I would like to, before I write the final review, actually beat the game. That goal - much to my dismay- is becoming a real deal-breaker with my schedule like it is. I probably won’t get time to play it until Thursday or Friday, but I’ll make a push to crush my enemies by the end of Saturday, tenatively putting the final review at next Sunday.

I already know, of course, that that will never happen. Given my defensive tactics (which have yet to fail me), even a simple stomp of a pathetically ill-prepared enemy can take 20 minutes or so. As a result, with  2 moons and 2 planets to go, we are looking at (at least) a good 5 or 6 hours of gameplay left. That assumes they are all just comp-stomps; the final stronghold battles can take me upwards of 2 hours, and I still need to eliminate the Tau, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Necrons, and Chaos Marines (normal Marines, Orks, and Imperial Guard met their fate quickly). I’ve included a picture of the map as it stands below just as a progress report.  In fact, I’ll do my best to include one after each chance I get to play so you guys know where we stand.

To address some concerns that my lovely, if small, audience has voiced: I am aware the links at the top of the page don’t go anywhere. Sadly, I don’t have the time to fiddle around with the page code to actually redirect them anywhere. Theoretically, the about page will eventually go to an about page, and from the about page, clicking the title will bring you back to home. Until that manifests, please forgive my poor, infant blog’s flaws.  Thank you though, for your comments.

Th-Th-Th-That’s all, Folks!

Jumble! Look! The Land of Ports!

So much to do, so little time.

I have plans allll day long, until about 10pm, west coast time. Since I’m trying to stay on East coast time, thats 1 AM as far as I’m concerned.

That means, of course, I won’t be able to start Soulstorm until tomorrow. That gives me 4 days to beat it. Of course, I have plans all Thursday, since all my friends want to hang out with me, and hopefully I’ll be busy Friday evening too. So thats 3 days. Shoot. Thats going to be tough.

There is also the problem that I still have some homework to do, Physics and otherwise. I suppose I should be excited about the fact that I don’t have time to waste on Video Games because I have too much of a life, hehe.

That review may be delayed because of me having a life. Neener Neener Neener!

I’ll get it up as soon as I can.

Rebuild and Oppress!

So I have Dawn of War: Soulstorm, and it is installed on my computer, but I haven’t had a chance to start playing with yet it. I’ve been running around all day!

Ate pierogies with family, and ate like 24 of them alone. Than it was off to a few stores, and back home for sorting stuff off the billiards table. One of the places we stopped at was a billiards store for new tips for our old cues. I was looking at getting a cue for myself, which may not happen, as a good pool cue is like $50-$60. I’m a college student, don’t have that much to spend!

Anyway, sorry about not posting yesterday, was flying all day. It should be noted that I do not like Northwest Airlines. I felt like I was treated like a piece of cattle rather than a human being. I much perfer Southwest Airlines in all respects.

I hope I can actually get through Soulstorm his break though!

Alas, Poor Yorick.. I knew him, Jumble.

So I intend to get Soulstorm Friday night/Saturday Morning. Honestly, I don’t which of those times I will be getting home, obtaining it from either EBgames or Gamestop.

They both have it available for download for the same price as buying it, except download does not include: shipping and handling, me having to go somewhere to buy it. And honestly, the time it will take to download is < the time I’d spend going to pick it up. Since I don’t have that time anyway, this will probably be best.

As far as the actual game goes, I have high hopes. I will have to run through the campaign mode, likely on medium, and I’m curious to know how their writing is. If the original Dawn of War or Winter Assault were any indication, I don’t expect it to be that well done, but have some interesting strategical and tactical twists. Apparently though, its campaign mode will reflect the same sort of thing we saw in Dark Crusade, so like an interesting Risk style game ranging over 4 planets and 3 moons. The gameplay should be extremely similar to the rest of the games, and I don’t expect the aerial units to change things too much, though I’m sure they’ll have an effect. I’m hoping the Sisters of Battle and the Dark Eldar are wildly broken. Dark Crusade did that with the Necrons. Play the necrons, and you essentially just win.

Anyway, had a math test today. Made a stupid mistake with the euler equation problem, in fact, made it way harder. I am confident on my performance with the rest of it, though. Just have physics class left today, and than hours and hours of homework, packing, and laundry. The last of which is probably easier said than done, since everyone, their grandmother, and their cat’s grandmother (and everyone in between) are doing their laundry before Spring Break.

Thats all I have for the day.

Jumble, end post.

Update!

Soulstorm has been paid for, and is being delivered (digitally) by the friendly people over at Gamestop, who, thanks to the power of the internet, I have not interacted with in this process. Lets see if I can beat it in a week, hehe. I’m sure I’ll have enough time on my hands to handle it though.

Anyway, Just letting you folks know.

Jumble, end update.
